The EOCA spring vote—which has taken place each year for the past 6 years—allows the public to help EOCA choose the conservation projects most deserving of funding. All projects are sorted into one of three categories, with the most-voted for project in each category gaining funding of up to €30,000. The three categories are:
All projects that are located at higher altitudes including mountain-based projects
Any project that is concerned with the conservation of a specific species or habitat.
All projects that located in places were people go to walk, to bike, or to enjoy other outdoor activities.\
As well as helping to raise funding and international awareness for various conservation projects, the EOCA voting process is also crucial in raising awareness of the work EOCA—and its member companies—are doing to help conserve and protect wild spaces. In 2015 alone, a staggering 31.5 million people were made aware of critical conservation issues all over the world.
