Nobody knows the importance of properly preparing for a trek as well as Ben Saunders. Whether you consider the three-time TED talker an ‘adventurer’, an ‘endurance athlete’, or a ‘polar explorer’, one thing is certain – without some serious preparation, Ben’s numerous Arctic (and Antarctic!) expeditions would not have met with the successes they have!
The third-ever person in history to ski solo to the North Pole – and the youngest person by ten years to reach the Pole on foot without support – Ben says he has spent over 2% of his life within the Arctic Circle. For those of us without a calculator to hand, that’s over 270 days, or a little over ¾ of a year. As well as those arctic treks, Ben has also dabbled in Antarctic exploration – between October 2013 and February 2014, he lead the first ever successful return journey to the South Pole on foot from Ross Island. This was the same route that had previously defeated noted explorers such as Robert Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton.
While your adventures might not be as punishing as Ben’s, looking after your gear is the most fundamental part of preparing for any successful trip. Fortunately, here at Granger’s we have an aftercare range that’s perfect for helping you stay warm, safe, and dry, wherever you are. We’ve been working with outdoors gear, and technical fabrics, for over 75 years now, so we really know our stuff – and we’ve used this experience to create cleaners, deodorisers, and waterproofers that we truly believe in, and can proudly stand by.
So, whether you’re out camping, climbing, hiking, or just more generally exploring, do your kit a favour and prepare to succeed with Granger’s – the video at the top of this article will tell you everything you need to know about who we are, and what we do.
